i have exported tables in 10g database with help of exp.exe now i wanted to import these tables into oracle 8i its possible or not if yes pls help me to solve my problem my exported file is jewel.dat

Which EXP and IMP versions did you use?

Rule of a thumb is: perform export using EXP utility of the lowest database version involved (8i in your case), and do the import using the IMP utility of the target database (8i as well).

i have used the export utility of 10g database now i have tried to use import utility of 8i but nothing just asked username and pasword after that quits
