Hi,
I have oracle 10g server installed on my machine.
I am trying to connect to another 10g server on different machine(different network)
I have created TNS entry but its giving me the following error when I am trying to ping it:

ORA-12541 TNS: no listener.

What changes I have to make listener file to make this work.

Thanks for your reply.

I just have the host name and database name of the Oracle remote server.

I don't have the access to the server which means that I cannot run lsnrctl start on the server.

Is there anything I can do from here (client) or I just have to contact owner of the remote server to verify the listener i.e host and port.

Contact server/database administrator.
If anyone could start a process on server then this could be classified as hacking, couldn't it?
