i was reading a lot of manuals (maybe i didn´t find the correct one) but when i search for a method that allow me to import the datafiles on a oracle 10 from another database using oracle8

I don´t know if this does exist but doing a replication from a database i can "get" the datafiles from another installation.

Sorry for my english but i tryed to explain what want i trying to do... i don´t know if this way does exist or not...

Assuming you are on the same platform, you can follow the process indicated in Transporting Tablespaces Between Databases.

You might try with Export/Import utilities (if that's an option); export 8i using the lowest involved database version Export utility (it would be 8i) and import it into 10g using target database Import utility (and that's 10g).

If you are interested in viewing the Compatibility Matrix for Export And Import Between Different Oracle Versions, it can be found in Metalink Note 132904.1.
