Dear all,

I developed new archiving form using form 6i, i used d2kwutil_6_0_6_0 to control the images. When i import some jpeg image and trying to display it in image item it gives me error message that form cannot read the image,
(FRM-47100: Cannot read image file),
Despite of some images with same extenstion are accepted and displayed correctly.
i searched for the problem and all is giving the same which is the image is corrupted or the extenstion is not accepted, but actually the problem was in the image size, once i changed the size by decreasing 2 pixcels from the width and the height then the image is displayed properly.

my qustion,
is there any procedure or solution through the form builder to resize any imported image??

Thanks all
Your participation is appreciated.

What was the original size and what is the new size? What type of image file are you using?

Dear Mr.David
Thanks for replying,
The image type is jpeg and its original size was 127 kb(which is not accepted by form),but when
i change the size to 205 kb the form accepted it.
I cannot understand what is the problem but usually when i face like this problem i change the image size regardless of increasing or decreasing, just change and then the image become accepted.

kindly advise if i can change resize the image through form builder.

Regards

Image "size" solution sounds quite unbelieveable (to me, of course). Could it be, perhaps, image file extension? JPG (newly saved file) instead of JPEG (the original file)?

What I meant to say is: although JPEG image format allows different file extensions (so image.jpg, image.jpeg, image.jpe, image.jif etc. are all valid JPEG file names and extensions), certain software products do not recognize all of them.

My assumption was that the original image file extensions you used was JPEG and you couldn't display it. Then you opened this image using one of tools capable of displaying and, possibly, editing images (such as Irfan View, ACDSee, etc.) which didn't care much about file extension as it knows them all (and properly display JPG, JPEG, JIF etc.). Then you resized the image and saved it.

*Perhaps* the output file wasn't JPEG any more, but JPG. All these image software products still don't care, but such a change might make a difference to d2kwutil_6_0_6_0 you use to control images.

This might not be the ultimate explanation; I didn't test it, but I've stumbled over someone's statement that if you'd want to make thumbnails of your pictures, Office 2003 can't "see" JPG but only JPEG.

Finally, even if I'm wrong about it, I certainly did my best trying to explain what I meant.

In response to your statement "once i changed the size by decreasing 2 pixcels from the width and the height then the image is displayed properly" I asked "What was the original size and what is the new size?" What I should have said was 'What WAS the width and height in pixels and what is the NEW width and height in pixels?'

You said "original size was 127 kb ... but when i change the size to 205 kb the form accepted it". How did the size of the file INCREASE when you DECREASED the width and height?

I believe that you have 'jpeg' files that have been created by different software and the two different pieces of software are saving the files in different VERSIONS of the 'jpeg' format.
