9i TEST modules[ 6 votes ]
1. I have 9i Forms installed on my PC and I do have 9i 'TEST' form 0 / 0%
2. I have 9i Forms installed on my PC and I don't have 9i 'TEST' form 6 / 100%

I have been trying to help many users who would seem to have a fully populated Oracle 9i Forms and Reports installation. However, when I ask them to run either the 'TEST' form or 'TEST' report they do not seem to have it on their machine.

There should also be entries in the 'Start' menu for these 'TEST' modules. The forms one should be very similar to 'Start', 'Programs', 'Oracle Reports 9i', and then 'Run a Report on the Web'. Do YOU have it on your PC? Also, please search your Oracle directory for 'test*'. Do you have a 'fmb' or 'rdf' file?

I do have the Web Form tester installed.

Unfortunately, the PC that I have been assigned had a previous developer that was "TEST" happy, so I am not sure that I have the "real" TEST.FRM.

New to FORMS, so pardon my ignorance on these questions.

I did find one FRM on my search that has a module named TEST with two form level triggers: ON-LOGON and WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE, has a data block named named TEST with two items: OK and VERSION.

When I run it, it just tells me that the app server was installed successfully.

Does this sound like the test module you are asking about?

IF not, where can I get the test FRM and any docs on details? Perhaps a post on the board of the TEST FRM and doc would help many out?

A good TEST form would sure make my life easier and would be helpful on this board as explanations on advice could become more generic.

Any help is appreciated.

I reviewed my 6i and 9i Forms and Reports notes over the weekend and I have a horrible feeling that 9i may NOT have a test form and report. Below are the 6i test form and report displays.

Do people have similar forms and reports for 9i?

Thanks for the pics. I do have a similar form in 9i and as it turns out, it is the one I describe in my earlier message.

In the past, when someone is explaining how something works in Oracle (SQL and/or PL/SQL), they have used the tables that ship with the RDBMS - emp, dept, etc. to provide guidance.

Is that the function of this test form, or is it to let the installer know that the installation went ok?

Thanks

The TEST form and report need neither a sign-on or database access to run. They are purely to prove that your initial configuration is successful, that you have the DS running properly, and so that poor pratts like me can help developers undo the tangles that they have put into their configuration.

Barry,

Did the TEST form and report install as part of the default installation or did you have to select a separate 'demo' install file to get them?

David,

The TEST.FRM was part of the initial installation. No demo was downloaded.

Hope this helps.
