NetSuite Fuels Jonathan Adler’s Global Omnichannel Growth

Wed, 2017-10-04 11:30
Press Release
NetSuite Fuels Jonathan Adler’s Global Omnichannel Growth Home furnishings designer expands its retail stores, partner network and inventory atop flexible cloud platform

ORACLE OPENWORLD — SUITECONNECT — SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Oct 4, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that home furnishings designer Jonathan Adler has realized rapid growth since going live on NetSuite OneWorld in July 2012. NetSuite’s flexibility has allowed Jonathan Adler to expand the number of its company-run retail stores from 18 to 26, including two in the U.K. and grow its webstore, JonathanAdler.com. Wholesale retail partners have also grown from 500 to more than 1,000 across 30 countries, including such top names as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Harrod’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. As SKU volume has soared from 12,000 to 33,000, NetSuite OneWorld has provided Jonathan Adler with seamless global financial consolidation across its U.S. and U.K. subsidiaries, and the ability to transact multiple currencies.

“NetSuite has made us smarter, faster and more capable,” said Damen Seminero, Jonathan Adler CTO. “NetSuite has taken us from guesswork to having real-time numbers and information in one location, and there’s no greater benefit than that. It has allowed us to grow and add new locations without ever pausing.”

Jonathan Adler Extends its ‘Fantasy Factory’ Design Environment to Business

Headquartered in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, Jonathan Adler has been the authority on Modern American glamour since 1993. The office is affectionately referred to as “Fantasy Factory,” a cheeky nod to Warhol’s Factory. Inside the vibrant and colorful office, Adler and his team design everything from pottery and furniture to textiles, lighting and more. With of plenty of dogs running around, the “Fantasy Factory” is designed to bring ideas to life through collaboration, irreverence and creativity.

As the company grew, it found that its previous software systems were inefficient and provided limited visibility into the business—thanks to manual data management and reporting in a fragmented environment. The company found itself version-locked in outdated systems that could not be upgraded without significant spending and business disruption. The company knew it needed an agile, scalable platform to continue its upward trajectory.

NetSuite OneWorld provides Jonathan Adler with a unified foundation for accounting, order management, inventory management and order processing – key elements in customer-centric omnichannel retail operations and B2B distribution. NetSuite feeds nightly catalog updates to Jonathan Adler’s ecommerce site, while the Bronto Marketing Platform triggers and delivers timely, personalized communications to customers and fans. With NetSuite OneWorld, Jonathan Adler can also set up new stores within hours, unlike the previous scenario that required weeks of provisioning on-premise software and systems.

“NetSuite is our central nervous system and the single data source for our financials, inventory and customers,” Seminero said. “I can’t say enough about the flexibility NetSuite gives us to do virtually anything. I’ve never encountered a situation where I had to say, ‘No, we can’t do that.’”

NetSuite Helps Shiftgig Make the Future of Work a Reality

Press Release
NetSuite Helps Shiftgig Make the Future of Work a Reality The Mobile Technology Platform Gains Efficiency and Scalability in the Cloud

ORACLE OPENWORLD — SUITECONNECT — SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Oct 4, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that Shiftgig, the mobile technology platform that connects businesses with high-quality, vetted hourly workers on demand, has streamlined its business with NetSuite OneWorld. Since going live on NetSuite OneWorld in 2015, Shiftgig has been able to manage its mission-critical business processes including financials with advanced billing support, reporting, and multi-subsidiary management for its three subsidiaries in the US.

Founded in Chicago in 2012 as a job board for workers in the service industry, Shiftgig recognized a greater opportunity in serving the market for hourly workers that, as a whole, has a labor pool of 70 million in the US alone. The company saw rapid growth when it shifted its focus to offer a mobile app for people seeking flexible work opportunities with the businesses that needed help. It now provides over 30,000 on-demand workers access to available shifts with over 2,300 client companies in 14 US markets and handles approximately 100,000 transactions a month in NetSuite.

Changing the Way Work Gets Done in the Cloud

Shiftgig was intent on finding a software platform that could reliably handle its two biggest transactions—billing and payroll. NetSuite’s cloud-based system was able to immediately meet those needs without significant upfront investments in hardware or IT staffing.

In addition, NetSuite’s flexible platform enabled Shiftgig to meet its sophisticated client reporting requirements, broken out by event, shift and venue, as well as across schedules, reducing the time to compile reports from three hours to just 30 minutes. Shiftgig can now send out automated notifications for past-due accounts across its 2,300 clients, which previously had to be done manually.

The company has also realized efficiencies in financial consolidation. With NetSuite OneWorld, what once took hours consolidating financials across its three subsidiaries can now be done in minutes and the company can easily add subsidiaries as it expands. With support for 190 currencies, 20 languages, automated tax calculation and reporting in more than 100 countries, and customer transactions in more than 200 countries and territories NetSuite OneWorld provides a platform for Shiftgig to continue to grow.

“NetSuite OneWorld helps ensure we have more efficient processes around client billing and consolidation for our subsidiaries,” said Jack Murphy, Vice President of Finance at Shiftgig.

NetSuite Accelerates Growth and Innovation

Wed, 2017-10-04 11:00
Press Release
NetSuite Accelerates Growth and Innovation Leveraging Oracle resources, NetSuite adds more functionality, more SuiteSuccess editions, more customers and partners, and launches new data center

ORACLE OPENWORLD — SUITECONNECT — SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Oct 4, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced more product enhancements, more industry-specific features and functionality, a new data center, and more customer and partner wins. With the resources of Oracle, NetSuite is able to accelerate growth and product innovation, and strengthen its commitment to customer and partner success. New product features for services and product companies, the release of SuiteSuccess industry solutions for nonprofits, IT VARs and solution providers, the introduction of SuiteSuccess to NetSuite partners, and the launch of a new data center in the Chicago area, all reflect the importance and support of Oracle’s considerable global resources.

“As one of the fastest growing financial management systems before it was acquired by Oracle, NetSuite has since been able to invest even more resources into our company, our product and our infrastructure to promote our customers’ success,” said Jim McGeever, Executive Vice President Oracle NetSuite. “Today’s announcements signal our ongoing commitment to maintaining our lead in the industry.”

MORE INDUSTRY FUNCTIONALITY More New Functionality for Services Companies

NetSuite is delivering several new product enhancements for services companies. New profitability reporting features allow companies to easily define their profitability criteria and reports with a new design experience, ensuring services companies always have real-time intuitive, accurate views of their projects.

New change order management features, as well as Billing Rate Card effectivity dates allow services companies to keep on top of their dynamic business environment, reducing errors and improving both accuracy and service delivery to the customer.

Capturing information in a seamless and easy manner from the field is key to an efficient service organization. New streamlined and intuitive UI for Weekly Timesheets, as well as improved time off management ensure a better, more timely capture of information. Providing real-time information on projects equips managers with the insights needed to make critical resourcing decisions on projects. All these new features for services companies are also designed to keep pace with the evolving revenue standards and ASC 606.

More New Features and Functionality for Product Companies

NetSuite is delivering several new features and functionality for manufacturers, distributors and retailers that provide customers with advanced capabilities to help sustain their future growth plans. Modern manufacturers often have their items produced in many different locations, perhaps globally, and in some cases by contract manufacturers. Our enhanced Global Bill of Materials (BOM) functionality allows users to manage BOMs separately from the items they are associated with, drastically reducing the overhead on engineering teams. Each item can now support multiple BOMs that can be specific to a location should you have locations that source components locally. Additionally, each BOM can be attached to multiple end SKU’s, enabling manufacturers to sell the same item under different brands without the need to manage multiple redundant BOMs when changes are required.

A new quality management system allows companies to define inspection plans that dictate how an item is to be tested, along with acceptable parameters where dimensions and additional product details might be recorded. Inspection requests are then triggered automatically and added to a queue to make sure nothing is missed. Should an item fail one of the tests, a workflow driven disposition process ensures that the necessary corrective actions are taken. The enhancements also include role-specific dashboards for quality managers, engineers and inspectors along with a tablet-driven UI for front line workers.

The new Inbound Shipment Management module allows customers who order large quantities of product, perhaps from multiple vendors, to consolidate multiple purchase orders into a single container to simplify future tracking and status updates. Upon receipt, a single scan can receive all of the items in the container.

MORE PRODUCTS General Availability of SuitePeople

NetSuite today announced the general availability of SuitePeople, the most flexible and unified cloud core HR offering. NetSuite is the first and only cloud ERP suite to give businesses a single platform to manage mission critical business processes across ERP, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Professional Services Automation (PSA), omnichannel commerce and now HR.

With the general availability of SuitePeople, prospective and existing NetSuite customers can now use it to enable employees to request time off, access employee directories and organizational charts, monitor upcoming vacation schedules and new hires or publicly recognize good work. SuitePeople weaves people data throughout the suite, giving businesses complete control over their core HR processes. SuitePeople also helps empower managers and HR professionals to streamline employee information, new hires, employee onboarding, promotions and compensation changes.

More Planning and Budgeting Functionality

NetSuite announced the release of the Oracle NetSuite Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS). Oracle NetSuite PBCS facilitates both company-wide and departmental financial planning with modeling capabilities, approval workflows and reporting within one collaborative scalable solution. With PBCS, customers can reduce planning cycle times, improve forecast accuracy, centralize the budget with forecast and actual information in one place, and drill across the budget and forecast to see the impact on business performance with “what if” analysis and flexible modeling in an intuitive user interface.

MORE CUSTOMER AND PARTNER SUCCESS Delivering More SuiteSuccess Editions for More Industries Since the launch of 12 SuiteSuccess editions for 8 industries earlier this year, NetSuite has continued that momentum by delivering three more editions for nonprofit and services organizations.

The key components of the new editions include:

  • Tailored roles with built-in workflows specific to the industries including CEO, grants administrator, development director, project manager and more.
  • Industry leading best practices built into the system spanning grants management, donor and constituent management, or project management, resource management and billing workflows designed for services organizations.
  • Pre-built KPIs and reports, more than 150 including FASB reporting to help organizations comply with new accounting standards.

SuiteSuccess is the culmination of a multi-year transformation effort to combine the NetSuite unified suite, 20 years of industry leading practices, a new customer engagement model, and business optimization methods into a unified, industry cloud solution. SuiteSuccess was engineered to solve unique industry challenges that historically have limited a company’s ability to grow, scale and adapt to change. Most ERP vendors have tried to solve the industry solution problem with templates, rapid implementation methodologies, and custom code. NetSuite took a holistic approach to the problem and productized domain knowledge, leading practices, KPI’s, and an agile approach to product adoption. The benefits of this are faster time to value, increased business efficiency, flexibility, and greater customer success. To learn more about SuiteSuccess, please visit www.netsuite.com/suitesuccess.

Customers and Partners Get Ready for Next with NetSuite
Many fast growing, innovative companies adopt NetSuite to ready themselves for next while partners select NetSuite as their choice of cloud ERP, capitalizing on the revenue opportunities of the cloud. Customers announced today include Shiftgig, the mobile technology platform that connects businesses with high-quality, vetted hourly workers on demand, and Jonathan Adler, a home furnishings designer. NetSuite also announced a new partner, Moss Adams, one of the largest accounting, consulting and wealth management firms in the U.S.

MORE INFRASTRUCTURE Unveiling New Data Center in the Chicago Area

Oracle Transforms IT Security and Management with New Machine Learning Capabilities

Tue, 2017-10-03 18:55
Press Release
Oracle Transforms IT Security and Management with New Machine Learning Capabilities Oracle Delivers Superior Security and Management When Compared to Splunk

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison today demonstrated new cyber security machine learning capabilities that transform IT security and management. The new machine learning powered security capabilities form an integral part of enhancements to Oracle Management Cloud, a complete and integrated solution for IT security and management that enables organizations to monitor and analyze their operational and security data in a single solution.

“Existing approaches to security and management are no longer sufficient, which is why the headlines are now full of security breaches and performance outages,” said Ellison. “Our vision for security and management is very simple. We need all of the data in one place. We need purpose-built machine learning that can be used by security and operations professionals, not data scientists. We need automated remediation that does not require human effort. And that’s what we’ve built with Oracle Management Cloud.”

Ellison contrasted Oracle Management Cloud with the security and management capabilities delivered by Splunk. The analysis highlighted that Splunk lacks the key data needed for operations and optimal security.

  • Oracle Management Cloud delivers a complete data architecture through a unified entity model that spans topology, associations, telemetry and threats. In contrast, Splunk has no real entity model and leaves data in many disparate vendor silos.
  • Oracle Management Cloud provides real-time insight through out-of-the-box applied machine learning that is easy to operate and use. In contrast, Splunk provides a machine learning toolkit that requires data scientists.
  • Oracle Management Cloud delivers integrated and automated remediation that helps eliminate human error. In contrast, Splunk has no remediation capability.

Quotes from Larry Ellison’s Keynote Presentation
  • “Companies are losing the cyber war. And it gets worse every year. Companies have to defend themselves against nation-states who are stealing their data, and very sophisticated cyber criminals who are stealing their data.”
  • “We have to reprioritize and re-think about how we defend our information. We need new systems. It can't be our people versus their computers. We're going to lose that war. It's got to be our computers versus their computers. And make no mistake: it's a war.”
  • “The way to secure our data, the way to prevent data theft is more automation. And we need a cyber defense system that automatically detects vulnerabilities and attacks.”
  • “And these two systems, the Oracle Autonomous Database and our highly, highly automated cyber defense systems are designed to stop data theft.”
  • “The Autonomous Database and our automated security system, is based on a new technology called machine learning. Machine learning is the most important new technology to show up for a long time. It looks at all of these logons with all the IP addresses and URLs, distinguishes normal behavior from abnormal, risky behavior.”
  • “The database automatically provisions itself, upgrades itself, patches itself, backs itself up, and tunes itself while running. And because there is no human intervention, there is no human error.”
  • “The Oracle Management Cloud has a unified data architecture. Manage anyone's technology -- on-premise, other clouds, our cloud, no integration required. We engineered all of these pieces to fit together. We unify the data, we analyze the data, we detect the anomalies and we automatically remediate it. It's one system. And it's relatively easy to use, much easier to use than the other systems.”
  • “It is not simply an analytical system, like Splunk. It is a security monitoring and management system designed to detect and remediate the problem.”

Press Release
Oracle President Thomas Kurian Highlights Oracle’s Cloud Innovation at Oracle OpenWorld 2017 Demonstrates Cutting-Edge Developments Across Oracle’s Next-Generation Cloud Platform, Including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and DaaS Enhancements

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

At Oracle OpenWorld 2017, Thomas Kurian, Oracle president of product development, showcased game-changing new services and enhancements across the Oracle Cloud Platform. Providing customers a unique advantage, Oracle is the only cloud provider to deliver a complete cloud portfolio, spanning IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and Data as a Service (DaaS). With deep product knowledge, integration, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) built into every layer of the stack, customers can speed innovation with unmatched choice, cost and performance.

Kurian demonstrated several of these new services on stage, showing how customers can transform business with Oracle’s cloud services. New cloud innovations spanning infrastructure, analytics, data management, and applications showcased in the session included:

  • Infrastructure as a Service: With built-in servers, storage, networking and supporting cloud services (such as load balancing and DNS), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides the foundation for customer innovation. As Kurian demonstrated in a number of scenarios, the platform was architected from the ground-up to provide the fastest compute, fastest GPUs, and fastest block storage to drive unmatched performance, predictability and lower costs for even the most intense enterprise workloads. Kurian also introduced new network capabilities including a Public Cloud Service offering 25 gigabit Ethernet to the host with a global scale elastic DNS Service.

Providing customers ultimate choice in how they deploy their architecture, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure enables customers to maintain visibility into their on-premises systems and extend them to the cloud. Kurian highlighted new developments in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure—including enhancements to Compute, Storage, Networking and edge capabilities—offering IT operations, developers and researchers infrastructure services optimized for production-ready enterprise applications.
  • Platform as a Service: Oracle’s PaaS offerings serve as the underlying foundation for developing, integrating, monitoring, securing and optimizing applications with newly built-in AI and machine learning powered tools. Kurian shared Oracle’s vision for the future of PaaS where software automatically learns, manages, tunes and scales to meet changing compute needs. Kurian also discussed the world’s first autonomous database cloud. Powered by the newly announced Oracle Database 18c, the next generation of its industry-leading database, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud eliminates complexity, human error, and manual tuning, making it easy for customers to provision and operate databases with lower administration costs and freeing them up to focus on other critical business tasks. Also noted was the latest generation of Oracle Exadata (X7); new innovations in the Oracle Big Data Cloud Platform with new artificial Intelligence, data lake and data integration capabilities; and leading-edge new cyber security and systems management solutions.
  • Application Development Cloud Services: Oracle gives customers unparalleled choices when it comes to open source tools, programming languages, and data management platforms that meet desired price-performance needs. This enables customers to preserve existing investments and increase productivity, while eliminating costly learning curves and dramatically reducing integration costs. Oracle Announces Industry’s First Cloud-Native, Intelligent Security and Management Suite

Tue, 2017-10-03 16:00
Press Release
Oracle Announces Industry’s First Cloud-Native, Intelligent Security and Management Suite Latest Oracle Identity SOC Cybersecurity Offerings Dramatically Reduce Time to Detect and Mitigate Threats

Expanded Oracle Management Cloud Suites Provide Integrated Monitoring and Automated Remediation for Production Performance Issues in Fast-moving DevOps Environments
Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Building on its multi-year investment to define and provide the next generation of cyber security and systems management solutions, Oracle today announced the availability of the industry’s first cloud-native, intelligent security and management suite. This new set of integrated suites—Oracle Identity Security Operations Center (SOC) portfolio of services and Oracle Management Cloud—will help enterprises forecast, reduce, detect, and resolve cybersecurity threats and assist in efforts to remediate application and infrastructure performance issues.

By using artificial intelligence to both analyze a unified data set consisting of the full breadth of security and operational telemetry as well as provide automated remediation, Oracle’s integrated suite enables customers to quickly adapt their security and operational posture as their risk landscape changes. This application of machine learning can potentially help thwart attacks, reduce the detection window from months to minutes, and more quickly address security breaches and performance outages.

“In the past few years, we’ve witnessed explosive growth in the rate of application change, as well as in the sophistication of security threats, which together have completely overrun traditional rules-based, siloed enterprise approaches to security and management,” said Prakash Ramamurthy, senior vice president, Security and Systems Management, Oracle. “Organizations must take a fresh look at their security and management from the ground up or risk ever-more costly breaches and outages. Our goal was to make this process as seamless as possible for customers by building a powerful, cloud-native suite that marries a comprehensive, unified data tier with intelligence provided by purpose-built machine learning. The suite provides value in minutes, and can scale to become the nerve center of an enterprise’s security and management efforts.”

Unique Combination of Unified Security and Management Data with Purpose-Built Machine Learning

Adaptive, intelligent security and systems management services from Oracle are designed for security and operations professionals. Users will also be able to access analytic conclusions from highly-tuned machine learning—informed by a comprehensive operational and security data set—without any additional work required. In addition, as a service delivered through Oracle Cloud, users can leverage constantly evolving analytic engines based on real-world data.

To ensure the machine learning algorithm has quality and breadth of data to deliver actionable insights, Oracle Management Cloud provides a single, unified model that allows for both massive raw data ingest and context-based enrichment, as well as automated remediation capabilities. This makes Oracle Management Cloud the ideal solution for the next-generation, machine learning-enabled security and management enterprise.

New Capabilities Empower the Identity Security Operations Center

The foundation of Oracle’s Identity SOC offering is the newly-released Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service. This provides security incident and event management (SIEM), as well as user and entity behavioral analytics (UEBA), powered by cloud activity monitoring and threat detection from Oracle CASB Cloud Service, identity context from Oracle Identity Cloud Service and the entire breadth of operational telemetry and logs from Oracle Management Cloud. Since the SIEM has access to the entire breadth of security and operational telemetry, customers benefit from a context-aware single pane of glass to secure heterogeneous, public and hybrid cloud environments. Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service is now generally available.

The new Oracle Configuration and Compliance Cloud Service is also available, helping customers ensure continuous compliance that’s fully integrated with DevOps and aligned with regulatory environments like the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

To help organizations continue to secure their cloud estates, Oracle has also expanded Oracle CASB Cloud Service threat detection and data protection capabilities. Oracle CASB Cloud Service now offers enhanced data security for both structured and unstructured data with new built-in Data Loss Prevention features, improved threat prevention with new anti-malware and anti-ransomware capabilities, and the ability to share its analytic conclusions across Oracle’s Identity SOC portfolio.

Oracle also continues to build on its longstanding leadership in the area of Identity and Access Management, a key part of the Identity SOC portfolio. As part of Oracle’s commitment to drive the identity industry forward, it has become a founding member of IDPro, a professional organization for identity practitioners that reflects their growing importance to security fabric and brings identity on par with security and privacy professional organizations. In addition, Oracle, is working with other industry vendors to drive the OpenID RISC working group to define standards for crowd-sourced risk feeds between major CSPs.

Adaptive, Intelligent Management Platform Services

Building on the explosive growth and adoption Oracle has seen since Oracle Management Cloud’s introduction in 2015, Oracle has enhanced its offerings with the launch of two new suites and one brand-new service, all of which leverage the adaptive, intelligent and unified platform.

The new Oracle Management Cloud suite combines Oracle Management Cloud, Oracle Application Performance Monitoring Service, and Oracle Infrastructure Monitoring Cloud Service. The combination of these two services allows for real-time, proactive monitoring and outage prevention for heterogeneous applications whether deployed across clouds or on-premises, with visibility, diagnostics and remediation from web or mobile end-user down to line of code or SQL.

The new Oracle Management Cloud suite includes the Standard Edition services, plus Oracle IT Analytics Cloud Service for estate-wide planning and the new Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service. Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service executes tasks at hyper cloud scale automating any process by calling REST, scripts, or third-party automation frameworks. Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service can apply automation on both on-premises and cloud infrastructure and leverages Oracle Management Cloud’s unified platform for its analytics and decisioning engine. With the new Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service, customers can choose to automate the entire problem identification and resolution process using machine learning.

Finally, in the crucial area of log management, Oracle has expanded Oracle Log Analytics Cloud Service to allow organizations to monitor, aggregate and analyze both security and operational logs from a wide variety of on-premises and cloud technologies, ensuring that each customer’s log management effort yields maximum value to both security and operations teams.

“The major benefit of Oracle Management Cloud is monitoring the infrastructure, user experience, usage of our capacity and compute centrally from one location, whereas earlier we used to have to monitor from 13 locations,” said Pavan Tsunduru, CIO at Adani Ports. “Oracle Management Cloud, with its machine learning capabilities, is going to enhance efforts to tell us proactively when there is any issue which is going to happen. We have now also started a pilot of Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service and the initial pilot has shown tremendous results, far greater than what is humanly possible.”

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Delivers Industry’s Highest Levels of Performance for Production Enterprise Applications

Tue, 2017-10-03 11:03
Press Release
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Delivers Industry’s Highest Levels of Performance for Production Enterprise Applications New Compute Platform Provides Customers with 87 Percent More Performance than Competitors, and 54 Percent Better Price-performance

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Oracle today announced enhancements to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure that provide enterprises with the highest levels of performance and reliability delivered by any major cloud vendor. These enhancements to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute, Storage, Networking, and Edge offer IT operations, developers, and researchers, infrastructure services optimized for production enterprise applications.

Achieving high performance and reliability for enterprise applications and production workloads is capital and resource intensive for most customers in their own datacenters and even more difficult in the public cloud. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure delivers a reliable foundation for production enterprise applications, providing unique enterprise reliability features and improving compute performance by 87 percent, with 54 percent better price-performance[i] compared to other major cloud providers. Now, back-office applications like enterprise resource planning (ERP), public-facing database applications like e-commerce, and performance-intensive applications like high-performance computing (HPC) run faster with greater reliability and at lower cost on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

“Enterprises are moving workloads to the cloud for a variety of reasons, whether it is to eliminate datacenters, migrate legacy workloads, or build and run performance-intensive applications in a more agile environment,” said Don Johnson, senior vice president, Oracle. “Running traditional and cloud-native production applications successfully in the cloud requires consistent high performance and reliability across the stack. Keeping all of these factors in mind, we have continued to improve Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to deliver industry-leading performance with simple, easy-to-understand pricing, making Oracle the most cost-effective cloud to run serious enterprise applications.”

Oracle enables enterprise reliability by being the first vendor to support trusted technologies such as local database clustering through Oracle Real Application Clusters, and Oracle Exadata as a managed cloud service. When combined with geographically distributed datacenter regions, each with multiple fault-independent availability domains, Oracle is providing a unique set of capabilities to maximize application availability and reliability.

Enhanced performance is made possible through a non-oversubscribed 25 Gigabit (Gb) network and optimized edge access with an industry-leading DNS. In addition, Oracle provides the best price and performance per CPU and GPU core, guaranteed storage performance at no additional cost, the lowest cloud data egress and access costs, and the most flexible pricing mechanisms to bring customers a better experience at the lowest prices in the industry.

Industry-Leading Compute to Boost Performance

In order to bring enterprises improved performance, Oracle has introduced an industry-leading system architecture (X7) and a new line of compute instances. The new Bare Metal Dense I/O instance provides 52 cores and 51 Terabytes (TB) of non-volatile memory express (NVMe) solid state drive (SSD) capacity, capable of millions of input/output operations per second (IOPS). These bare metal instances will improve performance for workloads related to simulations, computational fluid dynamics, analytics, and high scale enterprise applications. The new Bare Metal Standard instance offers the same number of cores, but can scale to 512 TB of SSD block volumes, enabling high storage capacity use cases no other cloud vendor can match. New Virtual Machine instances will also be available in 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24-core shapes, leveraging the faster processors and increased memory of the X7 architecture.

Oracle’s new bare metal GPU instances, which are up to 400 percent faster while costing 58 percent less than comparable solutions from competitors[ii], enable high performance for compute-intensive workloads used by researchers, analysts, developers, and animation professionals. GPUs are designed to process and analyze massive data sets more efficiently than general-purpose processors, making it ideal for complex machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms. These compute-intensive workloads are increasingly being run in the cloud due to the ability to deploy vast resources, obtain results, and release the resources more quickly than any other deployment model. This capability provides the ability to pay for only what a user needs to complete the desired computational task.

High Performance Storage with Guaranteed Performance at No Additional Cost

Oracle is the first major cloud provider to guarantee storage performance at no additional cost. Oracle’s new all-flash block volume storage is specifically designed to deliver within 10 percent of 60 IOPS per Gigabyte (GB) and 480 Kilobytes per second of throughput, 99.95 percent of the time.[iii] Optimized for performance-intensive, production enterprise workloads, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers can now run resource-intensive workloads, such as databases and analytics, with block storage that is 25 percent faster and costs up to 98 percent less than the competition.[iv]

Oracle is also introducing a new Archive Storage service, leveraging the same APIs as the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage, available at only $0.003/GB/month. This offers customers a low-cost, integrated alternative for long term storage.

Enhanced Networking and DNS for High-Bandwidth Workloads

As companies increasingly utilize high-bandwidth applications and interact with customers in near real-time, applications must respond quickly with minimal latency. Oracle’s new 25Gb network infrastructure offers significantly more throughput than most traditional cloud network architectures and allows enterprises to cost effectively take full advantage of the latest connectivity to compute, storage, and database services.

Integrated DNS from Dyn, the leading cloud-based internet performance and DNS provider, is also now available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This best-in-class edge solution enables customers to monitor, control, and optimize enterprise back-office and public-facing applications to deliver faster access and greater end-user satisfaction.

Platform Enhancements and Integrated Solutions for Easy Migration

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offers packaged migrations for Oracle E-Business Suite, JD Edwards, and PeopleSoft, helping customers instantly modernize their infrastructure on the best price-performance cloud. Oracle is also making a new data transfer appliance available to import large quantities of data into the Oracle Cloud, as well as a new tagging service to support the management, monitoring, and automation of large amounts of resources.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure also announced a new version of its Ravello Service, which offers up to 14X better performance than the previous version. Enterprises can now run VMware VMs of up to 32 vCPUs to scale applications vertically and up to 2,000 VMs to scale horizontally. Oracle Cloud Platform Innovates to Power Big Data at Scale

Tue, 2017-10-03 11:01
Press Release
Oracle Cloud Platform Innovates to Power Big Data at Scale New artificial Intelligence, data lake and data integration capabilities accelerate business insights, enabling customers to drive better business outcomes from data

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Oracle today announced three major enhancements to Oracle Big Data Platform Cloud. The new services deliver critical capabilities essential to Big Data projects, and enable customers to simplify and accelerate data-driven business outcomes while making it easier for them to leverage adaptive intelligence in their own applications and services.

Big Data projects are critical to innovation, but can be challenging to execute due to complexity and the gap in skills required to coordinate all the necessary pieces. To help customers address these issues and more easily manage the entire Big Data lifecycle, Oracle is announcing integrated Big Data services in Oracle Cloud Platform.

“Big Data initiatives are an important part of growing an organization, but the process is still complex and challenging for everyone involved,” said Greg Pavlik, senior vice president and CTO, Oracle Cloud Platform. “By delivering an end-to-end, unified platform that simplifies and accelerates Big Data analytics projects in the cloud, we are minimizing challenges and helping customers increase their rate of success. Our vision is to empower our customers to analyze any type of data from any source for everyone.”

Unveils Oracle Analytics Cloud, Data Lake Edition, for Big Data Analytics

Oracle is unveiling Oracle Analytics Cloud, Data Lake Edition, which unlocks Big Data analytics at scale on Oracle Big Data Cloud and Apache Spark. With Oracle Analytics Cloud, Data Lake, any analyst can now explore all data in data lakes, blend it with personal, enterprise, or external sources to discover new insights, rapidly enhance and enrich those data sets and persist them by creating data flows that are executed at scale. A built-in fast layer with Oracle Essbase and Oracle Database Cloud serves the resultant data across the enterprise, delivering fast, interactive visualization and a layer of governance on Big Data. The platform further enhances analytics by providing recommendations for data enrichment and visualization powered by machine learning to make analytics users more productive.

Oracle Analytics Cloud, Data Lake Edition, also introduces automatic creation of machine learning models, which can be applied inline to intelligently augment data and data flow creation and execution. In addition, analysts can draw from hundreds of Oracle Advanced Analytics and Spark functions to further enrich their data and data flows.

Oracle Analytics Cloud is tightly integrated with Oracle Integration Cloud and Oracle Big Data Cloud. Together, this unified platform offers low total cost of ownership for the most comprehensive set of analytics capabilities in the industry, from self-service visualization and data preparation on data at any scale to enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, dynamic user-driven modeling, and self-learning mobile analytics that provide proactive insights.

Adds AI Capabilities to Oracle Big Data Cloud

Oracle has embedded three machine learning and analytics capabilities in Oracle Big Data Cloud, which minimize data movement and accelerate results. Oracle R Advanced Analytics for Hadoop accelerates the algorithms available in SparkMLlib up to 32X; GPU support for Apache Spark and TensorFlow frameworks further accelerate algorithm performance for deep learning analytics; and Oracle Big Data Spatial and Graph enables customers to discover relationships and connections among customers, organizations, and assets, and enrich multi-structured data with location information.

Oracle Big Data Cloud also now includes Oracle Big Data Connectors to provide faster and easier data movement between Oracle Database and data lakes. Additionally, Oracle Event Hub Cloud also delivers a fully automated way to persist streaming data into Oracle Storage Cloud and integrates with Oracle Data Integration Platform Cloud, helping to make building data lakes in the cloud both easier and cheaper than ever before.

Finally, Oracle is announcing two new services: Oracle Graph Cloud Service is a fully managed, highly scalable, graph database and analytics engine with integrated development and visualization tools. Oracle NoSQL Database Cloud Service is the only fully managed NoSQL database that gives customers the choice of storing their data in the Oracle Cloud or in their own datacenter.

Unveils Data Integration Platform Cloud

Oracle is announcing the Oracle Data Integration Platform Cloud Service, which delivers unified, comprehensive enterprise-grade data ingestion and ETL capabilities. The service also features a push-down processing model for both streaming and batch ETL data pipelines for next-generation data ingestion from all Oracle and non-Oracle data sources and applications. Additionally, the service supports a wide range of data cleansing, data catalog, and metadata solutions for commonplace enterprise data sources to help ensure correct data usage and regulatory compliance.

Already an industry-recognized leader in streaming data platforms, Oracle Stream Analytics has been enhanced to run natively from Oracle Cloud Platform. Oracle Stream Analytics is based on core Big Data technologies like Apache Kafka and Apache Spark, and is tightly integrated with Oracle Big Data Cloud and Oracle Event Hub Cloud.

Oracle Cloud Platform is a comprehensive, standards-based, fully integrated combination of Oracle and open source technologies to build, deploy, migrate and manage a variety of different application workloads in the cloud. It provides a portfolio of innovative and accessible cloud-based services to capitalize on key transformative technologies such as big data analytics, AI, and IoT.

A few of the 2017 recipients are:

Moving Applications to the Cloud
“We don’t need that much hardware all the time, so it would never have been cost-effective to purchase it all. When we started exploring Oracle’s cloud, everything just worked – it was easy to get our JAVA 8 streaming API and Ubuntu environment up and running in minutes. We started in March, and by June we demonstrated the live solution running in real-time, displaying spacecraft trajectories to the audience, selecting and modifying them from a tablet,” said Sean M. Phillips, Principal Software Engineer

Integrating, Extending, and Securing SaaS Applications
“We are honored to be recognized as a 2017 Oracle Excellence Award winner. My focus is to continually improve experiences for our members in the fast-paced world of retail and health. Working with Oracle Cloud and our key partner Rubicon Red, provides a platform for sustained Innovation. Oracle Cloud Platform gives us the flexibility to connect and extend our core systems, and deliver innovative services via a range of user interface—including website, mobile devices, or emerging Chatbot technology,” said Ryan Klose, general manager, Corporate, National Pharmacies.

Modernizing Application Development
“Speed of engine deployment enhances our client and partner satisfaction, particularly in markets like legal and compliance where fast integration of natural language processing engines can be important. For cognitive engine development, the Oracle Wercker solution allows us to deploy almost any engine as a containerized artifact from the more than 5,500 we currently track in as little as 48 hours,” said Al Brown, senior vice president of engineering at Veritone. “Before we engaged Oracle, it could take as long as four weeks to deploy a cognitive engine.”

“AT&T will migrate thousands of existing Oracle Databases containing petabytes of data plus their associated applications workloads to Oracle Cloud. This collaboration accelerates our network transformation and migration to the cloud to expand efficiency, performance, and reduce cost while improving overall customer service,” said Sorabh Saxena, CIO Network and Shared Solutions, AT&T.

Optimizing IT Operations and Security
"The major benefit that we are looking at right now is mainly monitoring the infrastructure, the user experience, the usage of our capacity and the compute centrally from one location using Oracle Management Cloud. Earlier we used to have people monitoring from 13 locations and now we have a central team to monitor. It’s the Oracle Management Cloud with its machine learning capabilities which is going to tell us proactively when there are any issues,” said Pavan Tsunduru, CIO at Adani Ports.

Gaining Valuable Business Insight
“We chose Oracle Analytics Cloud to help us leverage vast amounts of trip data for our customers around the world. Working with our Oracle Partner Vertice, we streamlined the project delivery and costs, deploying in just 12 weeks for overall project savings of 20 percent. The speed and ease of using Oracle Analytics Cloud means we can make operational and strategic improvements internally, as well as delivering on-demand analytics to transform taxi companies and other ground transportation businesses into more data-driven organizations,” said Shane McDonnell, Marketing Director, iCabbi.

NHS Business Services Authority Helps Improve Patient Care with Oracle

Tue, 2017-10-03 10:02
Press Release
NHS Business Services Authority Helps Improve Patient Care with Oracle Rapid, Large-scale Data Analysis Helps to Save £581 Million in Two Years

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), an Arm’s Length Body of the UK Department of Health that provides critical services to the NHS and its patients, has helped to improve patient care by uncovering new efficiencies since implementing Oracle Exadata in 2015. The new technology and processes have also helped enable the NHSBSA to create £581 million of savings for the NHS to put back into patient care.

Using Oracle Exadata, the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) is able to provide data so that the NHS and other clients, for example Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), can make better-informed treatment decisions for patients. Since implementing the solution, it has been able to combine billions of data points on prescriptions, medicines, medical exemptions, doctor relationships, and call centre services from across the organisation and use this to reveal potential new efficiencies, all of which enable the wider healthcare system to provide better outcomes for patients.

Nina Monckton, chief insight officer at the NHSBSA said: “The NHS sits on billions of data points that have the potential to deliver tremendous value to the wider healthcare system in the UK when combined and analysed effectively. This is something we could never have done without significant processing power beyond what was available to us. Oracle Exadata has helped us make major headway so far, and we continue to uncover new ways to advise the wider NHS on improving the care it provides to patients each day.”

The ability to manipulate and draw insight from patient data has also helped the NHSBSA to manage prescriptions more securely and fight the pressing issue of anti-microbial resistance. By providing accurate, reliable data back to clinicians and policy makers it has enabled antibiotic prescribing to be reduced by 7%.

Dermot O’Kelly, senior vice president UK, Ireland 7 Israel at Oracle said: “Antimicrobial resistance is a major problem, not just in the UK but around the globe. The United Nations General Assembly unanimously agreed to tackle this issue just over a year ago, and by taking a data-driven approach to cut down the unnecessary use of broad spectrum antibiotics, the NHSBSA is showing the world how technology can help in the fight against over-medication and the rise of drug-resistant disease.”

Additionally, to help reduce the financial burden on the UK’s health system, the NHSBSA set itself the goal of delivering £1 billion in savings for the NHS to reinvest in patient care by the end of 2018. The NHSBSA responded by setting up an analytics lab, where it could consolidate its data, to uncover opportunities locked in this this information.

“The project was about working smarter and faster, reducing the risk of error in our operations and most importantly helping to present options to the wider NHS to enable it to deliver higher standards of patient care and better outcomes. In doing this we were able to uncover cost savings that will allow the UK healthcare system to invest even more funds into providing the best possible care.” concluded Monckton.

JavaOne Keynote Highlights the Future of Java

Mon, 2017-10-02 18:01
Press Release
JavaOne Keynote Highlights the Future of Java Provides Update on Recent Java Developments, Previews Future Innovation

Oracle JavaOne, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

The opening keynote presentation for JavaOne 2017, the world’s largest gathering of software developers who use Java, highlighted the continued success of the Java platform while emphasizing upcoming additions to the Java language and ecosystem. Oracle was joined on-stage by executives from other leading technology companies to discuss Java’s role in transforming the way people work and live in the digital era. With over 12 million developers running Java and more than 1 billion downloads each year, Java remains the world’s most popular programming language. Java is also the #1 developer choice for cloud, with over 21 billion cloud-connected Java virtual machines.

Oracle’s Mark Cavage, vice president of software development, opened the event with an overview of the numerous innovations recently announced for the Java platform. He summarized 2017’s major announcements around the Java platform and provided a glimpse of the future of Java, which focused on Java’s pervasiveness in the cloud, new cloud-related features and projects, and the need to support container-centric microservices and serverless architectures. Redmonk co-founder and analyst James Governor also took the stage to share his perspective on how recent developments in Java set the stage for Java’s continued usage for modern application development in the cloud.

Next, Mark Cavage focused on Java in the cloud, and was joined on stage by Spotify’s principal architect Niklas Gustavsson to discuss his company’s use of Java to solve large scale distributed compute problems within their application architecture, followed by Craig McLuckie, CEO of Heptio and co-founder of Kubernetes, to talk about the relationship between Java, Kubernetes and the Docker ecosystem. Cavage also announced an open source project centered around microservices development for Java developers on top of Kubernetes. Next, Oracle’s Varun Madan and George Matthew went on to demonstrate next steps in monitoring and diagnosing large scale, multi-JVM cloud applications with a real-time diagnostics service based on the now open source Java Flight Recorder.

Finally, Oracle announced a new serverless open source project – Fn – which was open-sourced live on stage by Chad Arimura, vice president of serverless development at Oracle. As part of his presentation, Arimura discussed how container-based solutions leveraging Java and serverless architectures are complementary and work together to enable Java developers to build modern, distributed applications with continuous integration and delivery.

Mark Reinhold, chief architect of Java, demonstrated the benefits of using Java 9 in the cloud and how easy it is to build lightweight Java applications quickly and easily using Jigsaw’s modularity and Docker-friendly Alpine Linux Java SE. He was joined by Brian Goetz, architect of Java language and libraries at Oracle, who spoke about future directions for the Java language.

The JavaOne keynote also featured several speakers to help outline the refreshed Java EE direction, including Ian Robinson, distinguished engineer and WebSphere Foundation chief architect at IBM, Mark Little, Red Hat vice president of engineering and CTO of JBoss Middleware, and David Blevins, CEO of Tomitribe.

Recent Updates about the Java Platform:

Java SE:

  • Java SE 9 was released on September 21 with major new capabilities and features including modularity with Jigsaw
  • Oracle announced a plan to increase the release cadence of Java SE to every 6 months
  • Starting with JDK 9 GA, Oracle is shipping OpenJDK builds under the GPL
  • Oracle JDK will contribute previously commercial features such as Java Flight Recorder to OpenJDK
  • Oracle will work with other OpenJDK contributors to make the community infrastructure complete, modern and accessible

For the full list of features introduced in JDK 9, please visit.

Java EE:

  • Java EE 8 was released on September 21 with significant new capabilities in JAX-RS (REST), Servlet, JSON parsing and bindings, amongst others
  • Oracle, in collaboration with Red Hat and IBM, selected Eclipse Foundation as the place to continue evolving Java EE technologies
  • Oracle and Eclipse are now working with the Java EE community to determine the details for the technology transfer, branding and overall governance within the Eclipse community

For a full list of features included in Java EE 8, please visit this page.

For demonstrations and content describing how to use Java with Docker containers within a continuous integration and continuous delivery environment please visit this page.

Quotes from the Oracle JavaOne 2017 Keynote:

Mark Cavage:

“We want the next decade to be Java first, Java always.”

“We needed to do a lot more to modernize, to get you to that world of cloud and microservices and serverless.”

Ian Robinson:

“For people building solutions on top of Java EE, having this new community fired up with energy, gives them encouragement that the future of Java EE is strong.”

“Having both the low-level JVM and the enterprise platform both at Eclipse is a really strong endorsement for Java development top to bottom at Eclipse.”

Mark Little:

“Moving EE for J to Eclipse I think allows these two big communities to come together and help to drive Enterprise Java into the next decade, as you mentioned earlier.”

James Governor:

“Things have changed in the Java ecosystem probably more in the past three weeks than they have in the previous 13 years.”

“It was very important that the open sourcing happened, and, yeah, we've got a new version of Java coming out.”

Oracle CEO Mark Hurd Predicts the Future of Enterprise Cloud in Oracle OpenWorld Keynote

Mon, 2017-10-02 16:30
Press Release
Oracle CEO Mark Hurd Predicts the Future of Enterprise Cloud in Oracle OpenWorld Keynote

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Today, Oracle CEO Mark Hurd made cloud predictions and discussed the future of business. Oracle customers Bloom Energy, FedEx, and Gap joined Hurd on stage to share how Oracle Cloud innovations are making their businesses more agile, efficient and profitable.

Hurd’s key predictions for 2025:

  • 100% of application development and testing will be conducted in the cloud.
  • 80% of production apps will be in the cloud.
  • 80% of IT budgets will be spent on cloud services.
  • 80% of IT budgets will be spent on business innovation, and only 20% on system maintenance.
  • All enterprise data will be stored in the cloud.
  • Enterprise clouds will be the most secure place for IT processing.

Hurd reinforced the success of Oracle’s cloud strategy to build the applications, platform and infrastructure that will enable customers to either move to the cloud or start in the cloud. He highlighted the significant expansion of Oracle Cloud, noting that in the last five years, Oracle released 3,500+ SaaS services and 125+ PaaS services making Oracle the most complete cloud in the industry.

Quotes from Mark Hurd’s keynote:

  • “It’s important to have great apps, but great apps that work together, the most complete suite of PaaS services and the next generation of infrastructure as a service that all work together to complement each other,” Oracle CEO Mark Hurd. “That’s what we’ve built out, and that’s what we now have.”
  • “We are trying to figure out ways to deliver more functionality and to support what we need to do with the business and be more nimble, but at the same time, reduce our costs,” said Chris Wood, Vice President, Business Services & Transformation, FedEx Services. “And Oracle Cloud is a big part of that.”
  • “With Bloom, we help customers pay as they grow,” said Randy Furr, Bloom Energy CFO. “And this is very much akin to the Oracle Cloud. Now Bloom, from the early days, we’re the largest fuel cell provider out there. We’ve kind of had to create an industry. And we’ve been fortunate in that we picked early the Oracle ERP, EPM, and Supply Chain, and it’s helped us grow and scale our business. And I want to thank Oracle; they’ve been a great partner.”
  • “I have never seen such a thought leadership, a collective wisdom, and the drive to accomplish what we have accomplished this year,” said Paul Chapman, Gap CIO. “And that is the delivery of Oracle Retail to the Cloud.”

“As enterprises worldwide further advance on their journey to the cloud, they are increasingly worried of being locked-in by their cloud vendors. In tandem, existing cloud solutions consist mainly of un-integrated, discrete and proprietary components,” said Mark Cavage, vice president of software development at Oracle. “With the Oracle Container Native Application Development Platform, Oracle plans to provide a modern, cloud-neutral and community-driven container-native technology stack, with Kubernetes driving orchestration and management for running new applications on Oracle’s cloud or others.”

The Oracle Container Native Application Development Platform is another step in delivering an open, modern and easy way for developers to build container-based applications. It also lets developers run in true hybrid cloud mode, using the same stack they run on-premises in any cloud.

Oracle is also planning to bring serverless capabilities to its Oracle Application Development Platform based on Fn, a serverless developer project that Oracle open-sourced today. Developers using Oracle Cloud Platform can now build and run applications by just writing code, without provisioning, scaling or managing servers, allowing them to focus on delivering value and new services. Fn is open source-based and able to run across multiple clouds, further reducing risk of vendor lock-in.

Developers using Cloud Foundry can now build directly on the Cloud Foundry platform on Oracle Cloud. Oracle has released as generally available an Open Service Broker implementation that supports integration of Oracle Cloud Platform Services into Cloud Foundry workloads. Additionally, Oracle has open sourced the BOSH Cloud Provider Interface, which enables workloads from software like Cloud Foundry to be deployed on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and is targeting general availability for later this year.

Today’s release of the Oracle Data Hub Cloud Service allows developers to initialize and run Cassandra clusters on-demand without having to manage backups, patching and scaling for Cassandra clusters. Oracle Data Hub is a foundation for other databases like MongoDB, Postgres and more coming in the future.

New Innovations and Services

With today’s announcement of the Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service, developers get a highly advanced, enterprise-grade distributed ledger cloud platform that empowers them to accelerate and create new revenue streams, reduce cost as well as risk and securely extend on-premise ERP and SaaS applications to drive tamper-proof B2B transactions.

Oracle also delivered an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot platform, which simplifies enterprise development and deployment of AI-powered bots. Part of Oracle Mobile Cloud, the intelligent chatbot platform enables enterprises to better engage with customers and employees across popular messaging platforms.

Complementing this, for developers seeking flexibility to build cloud native applications with Go and Java Enterprise Edition, Oracle updated its Application Container Cloud Service to include choice of two new application runtimes—Go and Java Enterprise Edition—adding to the existing Java Standard Edition, Node.js, PHP Ruby and Python programming runtimes.

Oracle is also providing support for running Java EE applications in the cloud-native platform backed by Oracle Weblogic Server, the industry’s #1 Java EE app server. Capabilities to run mission critical Java EE applications are now enhanced with automated disaster recovery capabilities across compute regions and stretched clusters across availability domains.

“With the latest Oracle Cloud Platform enhancements, we continue to offer our customers unparalleled choice and raise the bar for them to drive new innovations, embrace digital transformation and out-perform the competition”, said Amit Zavery, senior vice president, product development, Oracle Cloud Platform. “These additions reflect Oracle’s focus on delivering a cutting-edge application development experience leveraging the latest and most game-changing technologies.”

Today’s announcements follow recent news of Oracle’s continued commitment to open-source standards including joining the Container Native Computing Foundation, dedicating engineering resources to the Kubernetes project, open-sourcing several container utilities and making its flagship databases and developer tools available in the Docker Store marketplace.
