Heineken Urban Polo Uses Oracle Cloud to Inject AI into the Sport of Kings

Mon, 2018-05-14 07:00
Press Release
Heineken Urban Polo Uses Oracle Cloud to Inject AI into the Sport of Kings Intelligent bot provides polo-and-music fans a modern digital experience

Redwood Shores, Calif.—May 14, 2018

Oracle today announced that Heineken Urban Polo is using Oracle Cloud Platform, including artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-powered intelligent bots, to create a unique and customized customer experience at its premier polo events throughout New Zealand.

Working with Oracle, Heineken Urban Polo has helped revolutionize the “Sport of Kings” through a digital concierge on today’s most popular social platforms, whilst including all the flagship event’s key information. Using a conversational bot accessed via Facebook Messenger, users are able to quickly and easily find directions, on-site activity times (parades, DJ sessions, bar locations, etc.), match times, polo rules, player details and more.

Oracle Intelligent Bots uses deep learning-based natural language understanding (NLU) to comprehend and determine intent of end-user conversations. It can then help companies, such as Heineken Urban Polo, process these conversations, integrate each with existing business application data, and automatically respond within context. It also allows Heineken Urban Polo to directly contact customers and followers with important information in a personal and non-invasive manner.

“Oracle Cloud has significantly enhanced the customer experience through more personalized communication,” said Simon Wilson, director, Heineken Urban Polo. “Attendees can get all the information they want, when they want, through the messaging tools they’re already using.  The digital concierge has been very well received and we are looking to continue testing as we expand the event series later this year.”

Heineken Urban Polo showcases a fusion of sport and music in the heart of New Zealand. The match is played on a significantly smaller playing field, bringing the game as close to spectators as possible, while also featuring not-to-be-missed musicians, including Kilter and Miami Horror. Heineken Urban Polo is a four game series played in various locations including Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton and Wellington.

“Events have truly become a digital experience through mobile ticket sales, mobile entrance, photos, videos and social sharing,” said Duncan Richards, Digital Specialist, Oracle Australia and New Zealand. “By engaging with customers on platforms they already use and leveraging emerging technologies, mobile devices can now become intimate, personal experiences. We are excited to work with organizations like Heineken Urban Polo who are focused on creating the ultimate fan experience.”

The solution was implemented in four weeks in conjunction with Oracle gold-level OPN partners, Friday Solutions and Eyemagnet.

JTB Corporation Adopts Oracle Cloud for Its International Travel Processing System Infrastructure

Mon, 2018-05-14 07:00
Press Release
JTB Corporation Adopts Oracle Cloud for Its International Travel Processing System Infrastructure Oracle Cloud at Customer enables public cloud services to be deployed in a customer’s data center, delivering lower TCO, flexible IT resource allocation and security enhancements

Redwood Shores, Calif.—May 14, 2018

Oracle today announced that JTB Corporation, a leading tourism company in Japan, has adopted Oracle Cloud at Customer for in-house data use to support its international travel processing system infrastructure as part of its IT strategy towards 2020.

Since its founding in 1912 as the Japan Tourist Bureau, JTB has evolved with customers for over 100 years, serving as an agency to sell tickets and issue coupons for inbound tourists, planning and running tours in Japan. The JTB sells international and domestic travel packages for Japanese tourists, offering services for organizations including school excursions, corporate trips and MICE (meetings, incentives, convention and conference, exhibition and events), and continues to expand its global network. To leap forward, JTB established a new business domain called Multicultural Exchange Creation Business in April 2018, which offers solutions unique to JTB (products, services, information and systems) to create a panorama of multicultural exchanges on a global stage to inspire and evoke empathy. In its group management vision, JTB seeks to generate value that exceeds its customers’ expectations and ensure success by integrating a human touch in a digital world. With an IT strategy in line with its business strategy, and by maximizing existing systems, JTB works to focus investments on growth fields and actively utilizes digital technologies.

As part of its IT strategy, JTB wanted to upgrade its system infrastructure in a way that it could support the business strategy more flexibly and improve performance as part of utilizing existing systems. Previously, the company built infrastructure on premises or deployed in the private cloud for each system. In upgrading hardware components of the infrastructure, it had faced increased initial cost for building each element separately and needed to reduce costs by consolidating infrastructure operations. JTB also needed to improve efficiency by consolidating separately-built infrastructures because they were vulnerable to seasonality due to the nature of the system for selling travel products. It was also indispensable to meet security requirements of each system.

To solve these challenges, JTB selected Oracle Cloud at Customer (IaaS), allowing use of Oracle Cloud services at its own data center, and Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer as a database infrastructure. The following are the main benefits JTB chose to adopt Oracle Cloud at Customer:

  • Reduction of total cost of ownership (TCO): Reducing initial investment, management and maintenance costs with flat-rate pricing like public cloud; and comprehensive management operation services offered by Oracle

  • High performance and flexibility with the ability to allocate IT resources for Oracle Cloud at Customer (IaaS) and Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer to support peak data traffic, and surge in transactions while benefitting from the proven performance of Oracle Exadata in cloud environment

  • Support for security requirements to ensure cloud flexibility while avoiding the need to take sensitive data outside the in-house data center

This system will be implemented, transferred and operated by NS Solutions Corporation, an Oracle Cloud Managed Service Provider. Oracle Cloud Managed Service Provider is one of Oracle’s cloud partner programs that specifically certifies providers that have the skills, tools and processes required to build, implement, execute and manage Oracle and third party systems in Oracle Cloud Platform. NS Solutions is a one-stop service provider of Oracle Cloud implementation assessment, system transfer consultation, database migration service and operation/management service that supports customers from the stage of considering cloud migration through building and operating a system.

“Travel agency systems tend to be susceptible to high workloads in certain seasons and during events. It is essential to consolidate various systems and even out the entire processing to reduce costs. However, high system workloads do not always happen as we expect,” said Kenichi Yajima, Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy, JTB. “Flexibly scalable infrastructure is indispensable. We cannot compromise on security requirements such as handling of sensitive data. Oracle Cloud at Customer (IaaS) has enabled us to strengthen security and performance while using the cloud service at a flat rate, regardless of seasonal fluctuations to run a system in a cost-efficient manner. We look forward to Oracle’s cloud technologies’ excellent performance and security in addition to its track record of use with databases.”

Oracle Enables Smart Manufacturing with New Artificial Intelligence Cloud Applications

Mon, 2018-05-14 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Enables Smart Manufacturing with New Artificial Intelligence Cloud Applications Intelligent applications help improve overall business performance in manufacturing by driving smarter decisions, increasing yields and enhancing production efficiency

Redwood Shores, Calif.—May 14, 2018

Oracle today announced new artificial intelligence (AI) cloud applications that enable manufacturing organizations to reduce costs and increase yields by providing rapid analysis and actionable insights that can improve production efficiency and performance. The new Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Applications for Manufacturing leverage machine learning and AI to process vast amounts of data from production environments and rapidly identify issues, enabling improved operational efficiency.

Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Applications for Manufacturing enables manufacturers to spot anomalies during production, pinpoint the root cause of issues, and predict events before they occur. The applications enable manufacturers to look into every stage of the production process, foresee faulty processes and elements, and trace the impact of issues from production through to customer delivery.

Built on the robust and scalable Oracle Cloud Platform with embedded machine learning capabilities, this solution includes a manufacturing-aware data lake that brings together and analyzes structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from multiple data sources on the shop floor.

Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Applications for Manufacturing include:

  • Pattern and correlation analysis: Discover key patterns and correlations between a complex set of multi-variate influencing factors across manpower, machine, method, material, and management related information. Users can then align these insights with manufacturing business metrics such as yield, quality, cycle time, cost, scrap, rework, and returns to help quickly identify root causes.
  • Genealogy and traceability analysis: Using highly intuitive user interfaces and a self-driven ad-hoc analysis paradigm, the solution sets the foundation for “smart recall” analysis by providing comprehensive capabilities for backward and forward tracing of products and processes to quickly identify impacted products, services, and customers.
  • Predictive analysis: Leveraging the foundation of patterns and correlations analysis driven by machine learning and AI algorithms, this solution predicts the likelihood of occurrence of critical outcomes such as yield, defects, scrap, rework, cycle time and costs for ongoing production activities. This provides business users with the lead-time needed to intervene in a timely fashion to minimize losses.

Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Applications for Manufacturing are designed to work in a complex and heterogeneous mix of IT systems such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Quality Management, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Operational Technology (OT) systems that include sensor and log data from equipment and machines as well as external environmental data such as humidity, temperature etc.

“Traditionally, pattern and correlation analysis and predictive analysis are done by a small group of specialist data scientists,” said Ramchand Raman, Vice President, Oracle Product Development. “Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Applications for Manufacturing dramatically simplify the output of complex machine learning and AI algorithms and present these insights to average business users to drive better, faster decision making.”

Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical Automates Oncology Clinical Trial Set Up and Management with Clinical One Randomization and Supplies Management Cloud Service

Sun, 2018-05-13 14:43
Press Release
Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical Automates Oncology Clinical Trial Set Up and Management with Clinical One Randomization and Supplies Management Cloud Service

Sichuan, China—May 13, 2018

Oracle Health Sciences today announced that Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical Research Institute Co., Ltd (“Kelun”) has implemented Oracle Health Sciences Clinical One Randomization and Supplies Management Cloud Service to fully automate the set up and management of its multi-site, double blind colorectal cancer study.

The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) has been driving reforms to improve the quality of drugs and to encourage innovation in the development of new drugs and medical devices. Kelun Pharmaceutical has been successfully conducting generics drug research since 1996 but recently launched its first, new oncology drug study. As with any new clinical trial, there is tremendous time and resources required to set up a new study including trial design and validation which can take weeks to months. ORS enables coordinators to quickly add patients to a trial, collect screening information and ensure eligibility for randomization in record time. In an effort to set up their own trial and eliminate manual, repetitive data entry, Kelun implemented Clinical One Randomization and Supplies Management Cloud Service.

“We needed an established, standards-based cloud system to simplify the drug supply management process, and we have already determined we made a great choice by selecting Oracle’s Clinical One Randomization and Supplies Management. Within 29 days, we were fully implemented and are now in phase III of our oncology trial,” said Xiaoping Zhang, VP of Biostatistics and Data Management, Clinical Research Hub.

With Clinical One Randomization and Supplies Management, Kelun has been able to manage its trial supply and randomization more effectively and efficiently and has enabled its CRO partner and service providers, including its supply shipping specialist vendor, to automate their processes by leveraging Oracle Health Science’s cloud-based system. In addition to simplifying the drug supply management process, ORS has provided Kelun with role-based analytics to track and manage supply status in real time.

“Our eClinical platform, Clinical One and randomization and supplies management capability was designed for pharmaceutical and biopharma companies of all sizes, across all treatment areas and for all phases of research and development. We are excited to see Kelun leveraging technology to speed the setup and management of their trial and are hopeful that this oncology therapy will make it to market,” said Steve Rosenberg, general manager and senior vice president, Oracle Health Sciences.

Oracle Construction and Engineering Enables Earned Value Management to Improve Project Delivery

Thu, 2018-05-10 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Construction and Engineering Enables Earned Value Management to Improve Project Delivery Enhancements to Oracle’s Primavera Unifier deliver new levels of visibility into project progress and performance

Redwood Shores, Calif.—May 10, 2018

Oracle Construction and Engineering today announced enhancements to Oracle’s Primavera Unifier that enable users to perform earned value management (EVM) to better analyze the progress and performance of projects.

Earned value, a critical dimension of the execution of large and complex projects, provides an integrated view of progress that encompasses cost, scope, and schedule, enabling deeper project analysis and more intelligent decision-making. The EVM methodology entails comparing the amount and cost of what was planned to be completed against what work has actually been completed, and how much that work has cost. Such a comparison enables greater precision in forecasting the final cost of the project and whether it will be completed on, behind, or ahead of schedule.

With evolving government standards and securities laws increasing pressure to adopt stringent cost and earned-value standards, many organizations today recognize the need to incorporate comprehensive cost management and earned-value analysis capabilities into their project portfolio management systems.

The new Primavera Unifier EVM capability allows users to leverage data from Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management to:

  • Import multiple projects from Primavera P6 EPPM into a single Primavera Unifier project activity sheet, creating a consolidated view of the costs and earned value. The new EVM capability in Primavera Unifier incorporates resource spreads and progress information from the Primavera P6 EPPM schedule data.
  • Create rate sheets by resource and role with escalating rates. Rate sheets can also be created at a company or project level and be assigned to a mirror of the Primavera P6 EPPM projects within Primavera Unifier through the activity sheets. This allows different rates to be assigned to each P6 project and even to the P6 project baselines.
  • Pull data from the activity sheet into the EVM module, which will display industry standard graphics in addition to various critical project metrics, including historical trending.

“Earned value management is an increasingly important project delivery process that enables organizations to understand key dimensions of project progress and performance. The data that the new EVM capability in Oracle’s Primavera Unifier yields will enable project delivery professionals to improve outcomes through better visibility and smarter decision making,” said Andy Verone, Vice President of Strategy for Oracle Construction and Engineering.

For more information about these new enhancements to Oracle’s Primavera Unifier, register to attend a webinar on EVM and Oracle.

Oracle Marketing Cloud Transforms Sales Process with Powerful New Data Integrations

Tue, 2018-05-08 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Marketing Cloud Transforms Sales Process with Powerful New Data Integrations New Oracle Eloqua integrations with 6sense, Demandbase, LookBookHQ and Mintigo streamline and optimize sales process

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.—May 8, 2018

Helping sales teams engage customers and accelerate and close more deals, Oracle today announced new product integrations with the Oracle Marketing Cloud. The new integrations between Oracle Eloqua and 6sense, Demandbase, LookBookHQ and Mintigo deliver powerful data-driven insights that empower sales teams to identify high-potential buyers, drive engagement and close deals faster.

A new integration between Oracle Eloqua and 6sense helps sales teams increase pipeline conversion. The product integration enables Oracle Eloqua customers to leverage AI-powered in-market predictions from the 6sense Demand Orchestration Platform and achieve a unified view of account activity that includes the prospect’s anonymous website intent, competitor research and other relevant need-based intent.

“Understanding as much as possible of an account’s behavior provides a competitive edge to sales organizations to convert pipeline to revenue,” said Amar Doshi, VP of Product, 6sense. “Many of our customers that use Oracle’s Eloqua Profiler and rely on 6sense AI have asked for an integrated experience to support their account-based marketing and sales efforts. We’re excited to be a part of this customer-driven initiative for B2B companies.”

A new integration between Oracle Eloqua and Demandbase helps sales teams quickly and easily access the insights needed to accelerate and close deals. The new product integration improves the sales process by delivering AI-enabled intent data and insights from Demandbase’s Conversion Solution within Oracle Eloqua so that sales teams can contact the right accounts with the right messages at the right time to move deals forward.

“Marketers need to work hand-in-hand with sales teams across the entire buying cycle,” said Dom Lindars, VP of product, Demandbase. “We’re excited to be part of the launch for Oracle’s Sales Tools Extensions with our Conversion Solution, which will allow sales teams to truly understand the behavior and needs of their target accounts and increase their close rates.”

A new integration between Oracle Eloqua and LookBookHQ gives sales teams rich, actionable insight into buyer education, based on how leads and accounts are engaging with content. The new product integration provides a full summary of content engagement "after the click" (assets viewed in session, time spent, account rollup) within a contact’s profile in Oracle Eloqua and allows for the exploration of other contacts at the same account.

“LookBookHQ's ability to show the depth and quality of leads' engagement, coupled with the ability to see total engagement at account level over time, equips sales with a powerful extension to Oracle Eloqua Profiler,” says Stephen Streich, VP of product and engineering, LookBookHQ. “And this in turn provides better alignment between sales and marketing teams on buyer readiness and content performance.”

A new integration between Oracle Eloqua Profiler and Mintigo enables sales teams to learn, discover and engage their prospective buyers in personalized ways at scale. The new product seamlessly integrates Mintigo’s AI powered prospecting application, Sales Coach 360, with Oracle Eloqua Sales Tools.

“Prospecting is hard and the current CRM solutions do very little to enable sellers to engage their prospective buyers intelligently,” said Atul Kumar, chief product officer, Mintigo. “Understanding who is in-market to buy, why, when and how you should engage them is critical in achieving positive outcomes. This is what Oracle Eloqua Profiler and Mintigo’s Sales Coach 360 delivers to sales.”

Oracle Raises the Bar with New Free Platinum-Level Support Services for Fusion Cloud Applications

Press Release
Oracle Raises the Bar with New Free Platinum-Level Support Services for Fusion Cloud Applications

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.—May 7, 2018

Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) CEO, Mark Hurd today unveiled new customer support offerings designed to help customers get more value from Oracle Fusion SaaS applications including Fusion ERP, EPM, HCM, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales and Service. Hurd described Oracle’s new SaaS Support Services as a new standard in the SaaS industry, designed to ensure customer success.

“As the software industry moves to the cloud, our application support offerings need to become more agile and responsive,” said Hurd. “We need to provide our SaaS customers with everything they need for rapid low-cost implementations and a successful rollout to their users.  In response to those needs, we are announcing that our highest level service, Oracle Platinum-Level Support, will now be provided to all of our Fusion Oracle SaaS customers at no extra cost. In addition, we are also announcing a new set of Custom Support Services that can be flexibly tailored to the particular requirements of any individual customer.”

Oracle SaaS applications customers will be able to take advantage of the new SaaS Support Services at no extra cost. The comprehensive base-support package features 24/7 rapid response technical support, proactive technical monitoring, success planning and adoption guidance, and a new digital experience platform for on-demand education resources.

Oracle has also launched a set of Advanced Services, which enable SaaS customers to gain a deeper level of support and customized services based on their specific business requirements. These tailored offerings can be added as and where needed, enabling the customer to choose which services they buy instead of being charged for bundled services they may not want or need.

“We have a good relationship with Oracle and get a lot of value out of Oracle SaaS solutions,” said Robert Sukharev,” IT manager for the Digital Product Team at AIG. “We have more than 100 users of Oracle tools and having a single location for relevant information and free education resources will allow us to use these tools in a more effective, productive and successful way.”

Large SaaS vendors currently upsell customers on premium support, charging for faster response times, dedicated support and rarely utilized services within premium support packages. In contrast, Oracle SaaS Support Services will be offered free of charge to Oracle SaaS customers including cloud Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain, Human Capital Management, Marketing, Sales, Service and Commerce customers.

“The rapid adoption of SaaS has accelerated the evolution of support services away from technical support to support for the business,” said Elaina Stergiades, research manager at IDC.  “Most SaaS providers include only basic remedial support as part of the subscription, and additional support can add significant cost. Offerings like Platinum-Level Support from Oracle for SaaS, provided at no additional cost, can help ensure customer success in the cloud with expanded access to support for severity 1 issues, personalized training and adoption guidance for specific functional areas.”

“We have a shared interest in our customers’ success so we’re going above and beyond to ensure our customers have everything they need to succeed,” said Catherine Blackmore, group vice president of North America Customer Success at Oracle. “Oracle SaaS Support Services raise the bar for the SaaS industry and further reduce friction for companies moving to the cloud.”

Oracle SaaS Support Services will include:

  • 24/7 technical support: To help customers resolve issues faster, without adding to costs, the new SaaS Support Services will enable all customers to receive a technical support response typically in less than 15 minutes for severity one issues.
  • Dedicated implementation support: Customers will receive a dedicated, named engineer to provide guidance and hands-on support through the implementation process.
  • Proactive technical monitoring: Oracle’s technical team will take advantage of the latest machine learning technology to diagnose and resolve technical problems without the customer having to file a service request. In fact, the customer may not even realize there was a problem.
  • Success planning support: Oracle will work with customers on a technical and business execution strategy to help ensure the successful deployment and end-user adoption of Oracle SaaS applications.
  • Business process monitoring and guidance: Oracle will leverage data and process efficiency insights to save the customer time and money by analyzing customer use cases and providing recommendations for business process improvements.
  • Education on-demand: Oracle is investing in free education courses and the creation of a new on-demand knowledge center, which is expected to feature more than 2,000 new training guides, as well as guided learning starter packs to walk users through how to execute processes in the application. Customers can also attend QuickStart events on the cloud service of their choice.
  • Customer Success Portal: To help customers expertly adopt SaaS and achieve their business objectives, Oracle SaaS Support Services will include a new digital platform where customers can: find Oracle resources such as education, training, technical support and consulting; interact with relevant expert content to help achieve specific business goals; and design personalized training and education paths.

Oracle Advanced Services will include:

  • Additional tailored services: Extended services designed to provide customized dedicated support through the entire SaaS lifecycle.
  • Certified resources: Oracle certified-to-know experts have deep expertise, product and domain knowledge and extensive experience driving change so customers get the right knowledge and experience to drive business outcomes.

With built-in advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms, these groundbreaking new PaaS services automate and eliminate key tasks to enable organizations to lower cost, reduce risk, accelerate innovation, and get predictive insights.

Earlier this year, Oracle made available the world’s first Autonomous Database for data warehouse workloads. The company is committed to adding self-driving, self-securing, and self-repairing capabilities to all of its PaaS services coupled with specific autonomous capabilities for each functional area. In addition to today’s news, Oracle plans to release more autonomous services later in calendar year 2018 focused on mobile and chatbots, data integration, Blockchain, security and management, and additional database workloads, including OLTP.

“Embedding AI and machine learning in these cloud services will help organizations innovate in revolutionary new ways,” said Amit Zavery, executive vice president of development, Oracle Cloud Platform. “These new cloud services are the latest in a series of steps from Oracle to incorporate industry-first autonomous capabilities that will enable customers to significantly reduce operational costs, increase productivity, and decrease risk.”

As organizations focus on delivering innovation fast, they want a secure set of comprehensive, integrated cloud services to build new applications and run their most demanding enterprise workloads. Only Oracle’s cloud services can automate key operational functions like tuning, patching, backups and upgrades while running to deliver maximum performance, high availability, and in demand security features.

“Using Oracle Autonomous Integration Cloud with Oracle Sales Cloud, we were able to modernize our applications and automate customer-facing activities across departments—transforming our sales operations,” said Lisa Oliver, Sales Operations, Brake Parts. “Oracle’s autonomous PaaS services enable us to digitize many of our manual processes so we can decrease costs, increase business insights, and better innovate.”

B2B Sellers Need Digital Boost to Meet Expectations of Modern Buyers, Report Says

Thu, 2018-05-03 07:00
Press Release
B2B Sellers Need Digital Boost to Meet Expectations of Modern Buyers, Report Says Online marketplaces and digital channels are the most popular buying methods, but need improvements to meet buyers’ expectations, according to research by Oracle and Mirakl

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.—May 3, 2018

In a recent study of 200 B2B buyers conducted by Oracle Commerce Cloud and Mirakl, results show that there is a clear gap between experiences offered by B2B sellers and B2B buyer’s needs for purchasing. The Next Generation of B2B Purchasing Report 2018 studied not only the behavior of today’s B2B buyers but also the differences in attitudes across three generations—Baby Boomers, Gen-X and Millennials.

B2B sellers are missing opportunities as B2B buyers are becoming more comfortable with digital buying experiences. In fact, the report’s key findings conclude:

  • 87 percent of business buyers across all age ranges are already purchasing in online marketplaces, more than any other channel.
  • 73 percent of respondents state they like to purchase in digital channels but only 11 percent chose digital channels as their preferred choice overall, indicating there is a demand for better digital experiences.
  • 14 percent of respondents prefer person-to-person sales as their top purchasing channel, although it’s still the least utilized channel with 70 percent of engaging with a person to purchase. This indicates that B2B buyers want a mix of channels to purchase from.

“The B2B purchasing channels offered today are not cutting it for today’s business buyers. As a result, buyers are still relying on outdated purchasing channels and businesses are left with missed sales opportunities,” said Jeri Kelley, senior product strategist, Oracle Commerce Cloud. “It is imperative that B2B businesses of all sizes invest in a commerce platform that can provide an integrated experience across multiple channels and scale to meet the ever-changing needs of B2B buyers. Those that can drive integrated experiences will thrive.”

“This report clearly validates all age ranges are moving a portion of business purchasing to marketplaces like Amazon and Alibaba,” said Adrien Nussenbaum, CEO and co-founder, Mirakl. “As part of their digital transformation agenda, leaders at B2B companies need to incorporate a marketplace strategy to remain relevant to all ages of buyers and accelerate eCommerce.”

Additional Key Findings
  • Millennial, Gen-X and Baby Boomer B2B buyers are all purchasing in online marketplaces already: 97 percent of Millennials, 81 percent of Gen-X and 83 percent of Baby Boomers generally buy through online marketplaces.
  • Age group still plays a role: Millennials are 14 percent more likely to make business purchases through online marketplaces than Baby Boomers, and 16 percent more likely than Gen-X.
  • Business buyers in North America prefer marketplaces over any other channel: 38 percent of respondents prefer purchasing on marketplaces over other digital channels, RFP/tender process, eProcurement systems and person-to-person channels.
  • The less negotiation, the better: In each age group, approximately 70 percent of business buyers value the fewer negotiations and improved sales processes associated with marketplaces and online buying channels
  • Outdated purchasing channels still used despite preference: Only 8 percent of overall respondents prefer eProcurement systems for B2B purchasing but 71 percent of respondents continue to purchase through this channel. In addition, 59 percent of respondents overall do not prefer RFPs but 84 percent continue to use this channel as well.

To find out more about the Oracle Commerce Cloud and Mirakl Next Generation of B2B Purchasing Report, 2018, visit Oracle at the O-Zone Customer Experience Lounge and Mirakl (booth 300) at the B2B Online Conference, May 7-8 in Chicago, IL.

About the Report

The data in the Oracle Commerce Cloud and Mirakl Next Generation of B2B Purchasing Report, 2018 is based on a survey of 200 B2B buyers across Europe, Latin America and North America. Press Release
New Groundbreaking Customer Cloud Service Helps Utilities Improve Service, Reduce Costs and Accelerate Time to Go Live Oracle Utilities' cloud customer information system of the future has arrived

CS Week—Tampa, Fla.—May 1, 2018

Oracle Utilities today unveiled its Oracle Utilities Customer Cloud Service, the industry’s only end-to-end SaaS customer platform. The new cloud service is the first to deliver the full scope of SaaS benefits for customer information systems and meter data management in one solution, enabling utilities to reduce their total cost of ownership by 30 percent and dramatically shorten deployment times to months versus years for a full-function customer platform.

With the continued increase in smart meters, growing customer expectations and a significant influx of data from various sources, utilities are recognizing that upgrading their customer information systems is required to fully take advantage of digital transformation and move toward more interactive customer engagement and improvements in back office processes.

Brazilian Footwear Retailer Paquetá Shoes Creates Competitive Differentiation with Inventory Insights

Brazilian Footwear Retailer Paquetá Shoes Creates Competitive Differentiation with Inventory Insights Oracle Retail Planning Solutions with Embedded Machine Learning Improve Gross Margin by 300%

Redwood Shores. Calif,—Apr 30, 2018

Today, Oracle announced that Brazilian footwear retailer Paquetá has deployed Oracle Retail Clearance Optimization Engine to drive profits and streamline inventory planning. This deployment rounds out Paquetá’s existing planning portfolio including Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning, Oracle Retail Assortment Planning, and Oracle Retail Warehouse Management System.

With an established brand in Brazil, Paquetá The Shoe Company is a leader in style, quality, manufacturing and retail producing more than 65,000 pairs of shoes per day. However, like many retailers today, they are challenged to drive strong profit despite falling foot traffic for their 300+ stores across Brazil and abroad. This challenge led Paquetá to Oracle Retail solutions to create an innovative data-led approach, to establish a competitive edge and build a culture of trust and optimism in a tough economy.

“Driving and converting foot traffic requires fresh assortments, but that must be balanced very carefully when your customers have less disposable income,” said Eduardo Smaniotto, VP Supply Chain, Paquetá. “We cannot afford to have a customer disappointed due to lack of inventory and we also cannot hold excess inventory or take severe markdowns. Our margin for error is very small and therefore it’s essential that we have one source of truth across the business and manage to plan on a very granular level, on a daily basis.”

The Oracle Retail Planning suite offers a real-time, single view of inventory across 400,000 SKUs, 52 categories, 132 subcategories and 4 store formats enabling Paquetá to act with agility at scale. This single view empowers management to drive significant margin improvements by optimizing promotions and assortment strategies with machine learning. These intelligent solutions help predict and understand future demand to equip buyers with better, more accurate insight to what styles are most likely to sell and in what quantities.

“Prior to the transformation, each department worked with different metrics and had a different approach to planning. With Oracle Retail, we know what to buy, how much to buy, at what time and where it must be for customer fulfillment,” said Smaniotto. “By leveraging machine learning inherent in the Oracle solutions, we have reduced inventory by 26%, eliminated more than 20 categories with little sacrifice to top line growth, and improved profit margin by a factor of 3X.”

Paquetá began their transformation with the implementation of Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning to allocate inventory more profitably and Warehouse Management System to gain control of orders throughout the distribution process in 2015. Based on the success of that deployment, Paquetá pursued the remaining solutions in the portfolio and most recently completed the implementation of Clearance Optimization and Assortment Planning. Oracle PartnerNetwork Gold Level Partner Logic Information Systems provided knowledge and best practices, to ensure implementations were completed on time and on budget.

“By implementing the integrated suite of Oracle Retail solutions, Paquetá has set a foundation for growth.  These solutions will help the business to deliver a better customer shopping experience, to drive growth and performance, and to enable the business to identify and address new market opportunities,” said Ray Carlin, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Retail.

“One of the greatest advantages of adopting a robust Planning and Optimization solution is the rapid return these solutions offer through a smart implementation plan. Our local Brazil Planning Optimization teams bring the right balance of business, technical and science understand to empower our clients by deploying highest-value returns first,” said Amber Naqvi, President, Logic Information Systems.

Oracle Named a Leader in the Gartner 2018 Magic Quadrant for Operations Support Systems

Mon, 2018-04-30 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Named a Leader in the Gartner 2018 Magic Quadrant for Operations Support Systems Oracle positioned as a Leader for seventh consecutive time based on its ability to execute and completeness of vision

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Apr 30, 2018

Oracle Communications today announced that Oracle has been named a Leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Operations Support Systems1 for the seventh consecutive time. The report evaluates vendors that provide end-to-end operations support systems (OSS) to communications service providers, assessing them on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

For a complimentary copy of the report, please visit: Gartner Magic Quadrant

The report notes “The ongoing current evolution toward digital infrastructure operations paves the way to the next big evolution in the industry: a fully automated, highly configurable, self-orchestrating horizontal software layer that supports hybrid physical and virtual resources.”

As Communications Service Providers (CSPs) strive to increase their agility, embrace digitalization, and adopt new technologies—such as NFV/SDN, IoT and cloud—they are encountering hurdles presented by their existing systems and processes. Oracle Communications Service and Network Orchestration an open, agile, model-driven approach that insulates IT systems from network complexity and accelerates CSPs’ digital transformation efforts. With new innovations that support both physical and virtual environments, Oracle enables customers to accelerate the introduction of new technologies and the provisioning of services across them.

According to the report, “OSS solutions depicted in this Magic Quadrant are spanning service-facing digital IT solutions that are tightly coupled with customer-facing IT. Without an adequate process alignment, CSPs will fail to monetize investments on the back end.”

Oracle Communications Service and Network Orchestration supports the end-to-end concept-to-cash-to-care process through seamless process integration with Oracle Customer Experience (CX) and Oracle’s Siebel CRM solutions and, through open integrations, with Oracle and most third party CX and CRM solutions.

“Modern OSS systems are becoming increasingly critical as CSPs embrace a digital future as integrated digital service providers,” said Doug Suriano, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications. “Oracle continues to deliver new innovations that enable our customers to embrace this change, helping dramatically reduce time-to-market for new services while also supporting scalable operations that reduce IT complexity and costs. We feel that our position as a Leader for the seventh consecutive time reflects our ongoing commitment to, and investment in, our OSS technologies and to ensuring the success of our customers today and well into the future.”

According to the report, “Leading vendors in this Magic Quadrant cover both the traditional OSS and the new OSS orchestration architectures in the form of SDN/NFV orchestration solution capabilities. The underlying functionality will be the same for both worlds. However, architectures will shift from vertical solution stacks—often purpose-tailored to specific technologies—to horizontal, fully integrated OSS functionality. The new OSS orchestration will encompass the same functionality, encapsulated in pre-integrated, real-time, self-configurable, metadata-driven architectures.”

Magic Memories Grows its Business by Capturing Smiles Across the World

Press Release
Magic Memories Grows its Business by Capturing Smiles Across the World Global tourist experience business accelerates international growth with NetSuite

SUITEWORLD18—LAS VEGAS—Apr 26, 2018

Magic Memories, a business that is revolutionising the guest experience at tourist destinations around the world, has successfully implemented NetSuite OneWorld to support its growth from humble beginnings in Queenstown, New Zealand, to a US$120 million business with a presence at over 170 attractions.

Magic Memories was founded by John Wikstrom and Stuart Norris in 1995 when they saw an opportunity to help travellers capture memories amidst their travels. Wikstrom and Norris realised that not everyone has the talent, skill or equipment to capture high end photographs and video while on vacation and established Magic Memories to provide innovative photography and video products, such as personalised photobooks and shareable digital content. It now partners with some of the most iconic tourist attractions in the world, including Legoland in California, Barcelona Football Club, London Sea Life Aquarium and Warner Bros. Movie World on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Magic Memories has grown from US$30 million in 2015 to US$120 million currently and now operates in ten countries, with approximately 2,500 staff, across its 170 partner attractions around the world. The rapid growth meant Magic Memories needed systems in place that could manage the demands of a sophisticated global business. The business had outgrown its existing management systems, including Xero and manual spreadsheets, and needed an integrated solution that could support operations in multiple countries and across multiple tax systems and currencies.

“Expansion has always been a key aim for Magic Memories, since we first started out and we wanted to be prepared for the future and equip the business with a sophisticated ERP system that could integrate our processes in a single source of truth. Oracle NetSuite gives us exactly that—a future-proof system that expands with us,” said Simon Robinson, acting chief financial officer, Magic Memories. “OneWorld supports our core financial, procurement and supply chain needs and enables us to continue to grow and expand, without operational challenges. When we chose NetSuite as we wanted to build a long-term strategy on a robust system that could grow and scale with the business.”

NetSuite OneWorld has allowed Magic Memories to simplify its reporting processes from days to just hours. These time savings are an added bonus to the flexibility the cloud-based system already provides, which include remote access and its ability to localise the platform to service the region in which it operates. NetSuite’s support for multi-currency, multi-language operations, also means the business remains compliant no matter of its geographic location.

Robinson continued, “we chose NetSuite OneWorld as our ERP system in December 2013 as we were confident that it could meet the needs of our increasingly geographically dispersed business, integrate the whole supply chain and set us up for growth. It’s a system that is well suited to the US$200-500 million company we want to be, as well as the size we were then and are now.”

“It’s been encouraging to see the successful evolution of Magic Memories over the past five years. We’re proud to have played a key role by supporting its growth across multiple regions, and providing Magic Memories with a flexible, global system needed to sustain its global expansion,” said Lee Thompson, group vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Cloud/ERP at Oracle NetSuite.
