Over the decade there are lots and lots of requirement for storage for corporate data. To respond to that the cost of storage had become cheaper and cheaper. Now the growth of OLAP size had gone to a considerable size, the requirement of faster IO hardware had become the must for larger databases anything from 1TB to 2TB.It has been almost an year since released in this area by oracle is “Sun Flash Storage”. I have read about this in many places in many articles, but no one in PeopleSoft Domain talked about it. Hence I will take a look at it's features and advantages and disadvantages. Oracle advertises that this option will turbo charge the database and it should reduce the I/O bottle necks 15x [up to 1.6 million IOPS] and 2x acceleration of applications. It is bit pricy with the base price of $160K for the 2TB storage.
