Benefits of Dashboards for Healthcare

Wed, 2017-04-12 13:40

Data backing is extremely important; measurable, accurate metrics more so. In industries, such as healthcare, metrics allow for better strategy formulation and implementation.

Although it is not as easy to convert users of so-called tried and tested management methods, there is a chance of effecting change when increasing costs and decreasing revenues enter the picture.

These days, data is not as difficult to obtain. And when you are running a healthcare business, this is not something you can just turn your back on.

Health costs are always on the rise, leading to the entry of service providers offering to provide healthcare services at a fraction of the price. This then, makes the competition for consumers fiercer every day.

Thus, it is essential to have measurable data for everything from patient spending, operational costs, profits and losses, and the like. These are what KPI performance dashboards for healthcare aim to provide.

Importance of Analytics for Higher Education

Tue, 2017-04-11 14:30

More institutions are now taking advantage of Analytical Dashboard Software, whether it be in the form of Excel Dashboard Software or Online Dashboards using some kind of SAAS service – study plans are developed based on data taken from students. Because of Analytics, courses have been tailor-made for classes, and one class is unique from another. Analytics also provide a gauge for academicians to rate their institutions and themselves, using it as a tool for improvement and solutions-based programs.

The Role of Analytics in Higher Education

In a study for ECAR 2012, various words and themes emerged to define analytics. These are classroom use, prediction, automatic data, Google, course distribution, data mining, and metrics. Synthesizing these terms, analytics is defined as the process of gathering and interpreting data to address, give light to, or answer a strategic question.

The Role of Data Visualization for Digital Marketing

Mon, 2017-04-10 14:07

The field of marketing used to be a matter of simple advertising but times have changed. Back in the day, best advertisement got the most sales but today's buyers are not so suggestible as in days of yore.

With the advent of Internet, even uneducated consumers have become wary of overt advertising. These days marketers have to appeal to a much more discerning base of buyers, and they also have to be able to demonstrate to their clients that the "newfangled" ways of marketing actually perform.

Data visualization is making the difference on both sides of this dilemma.

Data Visualization: the Breakdown

So what is data visualization? To answer that, we first have to answer the question, "what is data?"

Fri, 2017-03-31 12:20

If you give public presentations involving numbers and data, you already understand the underlying principle of dashboard visualization.

You don't illustrate your speaking with slides full of bare numbers, do you? You compile those numbers into charts or graphs to make them easily comprehensible to your audience.

The same principle explains why dashboards are so effective, utilizing visualization to increase ease of use and engagement for the user.

Whether you are presenting to a board of directors or introducing a client to the potential of your marketing campaign, visualization is key to reaching your target audience.

Using SQL for Dashboard building

Wed, 2017-03-29 13:00
From SQL Query to Analysis

InfoCaptor is extremely versatile dashboard application. It started initially just as "SQL Dashboard".

What do you mean by "SQL Dashboard"?

This was the MVP (minimal viable product) for a Dashboard tool.

The basic premise of the idea was that a developer can type any SQL query and produce the information. The information is then displayed into any kind of visual. All the widgets within the dashboard editor are data-aware.

Google dashboard for lazy businessman

Mon, 2017-03-27 15:20

Once you start your own business or startup, the very first thing that comes to mind is "How many visitors did my website receive?"

Google Analytics provides tons of metrics and it becomes quite a chore to keep up with all the dashboard pages and filter options. As a small biz owner myself, I went through a phase where I ended up spending significant amount of time checking out Google Analytics

To save time and mental energy on a daily routine task, I asked "What are the most basic metrics I need to measure from Google Analytics?"

The answer pretty much came down as a need to have "one page dashboard that displays various metrics".

How to optimize you reporting with Google Analytics

Sat, 2017-03-25 10:40

There are lot of ways you can optimize your reporting with Google Analytics and I would like to bring your attention to a very powerful solution as described below.

Our solution is not an Excel plugin but it is a packaged Datawarehouse. Let me assure and explain in very simple terms.

  1. Connect to your profile [or as many profiles]
  2. Pick your metrics
  3. Save your query

This 3 step process will let you define a complete workflow of extracting your website metrics into a MySQL database table. Yes, you can import any combination of Google metrics and columns into any MySQL table.

Once you define the workflow, it will perform a full load and then on a daily basis it will keep appending new data to the same table. This happens without any intervention from your side.

Differences between charting engine, analytics software and dashboard software

Tue, 2017-03-21 13:25

Every often we would get users asking us 'How different is your dashboard software from XYZ Business Analytics?'

The XYZ spans across the entire Business Intelligence umbrella and often into the Website development and applicaton side as well.

Some of the questions are like

'How different is infocaptor dashboards from Tableau?"
